Bug Reports

Please post your bug reports in here.

With your bug report, please submit the following information:

1) OS: Your operating system, i.e. Linux, Windows, or otherwise and what version you are using.

2) 3D card: The 3D card you are using. If you do not know, this is printed on the "Renderer:" line in the console when Sauerbraten starts up.

3) The edition of Sauerbraten you are using, i.e. Assassin edition, CVS as of a particular date, or otherwise.

4) Error information: If you are on Windows, a pop-up message showing filenames and line numbers should show up when Sauerbraten crashes; if possible, post a screenshot or a copy/paste of this. If on Linux, post a log of the startup info from the console, including relevant errors or any info you might have discovered.

5) A description of the problem and how to reproduce it. Please give as much detail as possible on how someone can recreate the problem, in as certain terms as you can. If someone else can't reproduce the problem, it is unlikely he can fix it or tell you what is wrong.

#1: Clipped faces?

1) Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
2) NVidia GeForce 9500M GS
3) CVS (Apr 24, 2008 at 12:45 pm)
4) Kind of an odd render bug, no number or anything.

5) In a nutshell, some faces are not being rendered after a calclight (any setting of calclight will do). I suspect that this is due to the gridsize, I'm dealing with blocks of the smallest size partially overlapping other blocks of the smallest size. The end result is that there are these odd little windows through the wall. I've tried a few workarounds (in a few cases I can just get the wall behind it to render, making the bug almost unnoticable), but nothing has really worked.

2) nVidia GeForce 8600M

4) Evident while playing

5) I don't even know if this is something on Sauerbraten's end, SDL's end, OpenGL's end or the driver's end but Sauerbraten on a Mac (Not just me) runs very slow. This is quite noticeable when turning off shaders, using 720x480, everything including grass water stuff off and loading river_c or hades. The problem seems to specifically be the water, as hades runs fine until you look at some water.

Yes, I forgot to say those were off too. It slows me to 3-5FPS still. I think even an 8600M Should be able to do this. It does it fine in Windows.

Sorry, it appears (from looking at what is being said on other game forums) that the 8600m (I assume MacBookPro) running osx appears to have broken drivers...

Your options include waiting in hope for an Apple fix, voicing your opinion at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html, or debating your warranty with your local dealer.

#7: normal map colourisation

SPECS: Linux 32; 8600GTS

The normal maps are applied as normal diffuse textures to the model whilst bumpmapping, causing blue/purple colourisation upon the model

4) HOM issues, no numbers or crashes.
5) I noticed this when running about in WDCD, the skybox beyond the outer walls is suffering from very visible HOM. I went looking for other places this happens, and turned up nothing, but I did notice in hog2 that looking through water at lava has a HOM effect. That's a very hard to notice effect though, you kinda have to be looking for it.

There was an Apple update, and I got a little FPS boost, at least River_C is playable with everything off at 640x480 :/

5) third-person view, has a bug of sorts. when respawning, the camera angle isn't reset, so the respawned playermodel is looking in the right playerstart direction, but the player is not. problematic, as the player would start facing walls etc. as soon as the mouse moves, the playermodel will face the mouse, but when death occours, the camera will still be looking at the last direction.

5) I can see the skybox reflecting in glass inside areas that have no visibility to the outside.

that's not a bug, you need to place some envmap entities next to/near them that're inside the building...

what do you think they should show without having a specific envmap assigned? nothing ( NULL ) or the skybox :P

OK, so this is a feature with the newer engine. I've been using an older version that didn't reflect anything with the glass to work on this map for about 2 years now. I guess I need to do some more tweaks to get it up to speed with the newer stuff.

ive never asked for help with any program before, usually just use other peorple's posts to figure it out.
im on ubuntu linux
my card is ATI Radeon X1200 Series
im useing the ati suplied drivers, not the crappy generic ones ubuntu comes with
the game crashes, only when i fire anything, as soon as i shoot a bullit the game goes down with this in the terminal:
